A VersaSpa spray tan can last up to a week. The skin naturally exfoliates the top layer every week. As the skin naturally exfoliates, the tan fades. For a beautiful, long-lasting tan, it’s important to moisturize daily to keep the skin hydrated so it doesn’t exfoliate sooner. DON’T SHAVE BEFORE: If you need to shave or wax your legs do it at least 24 hours before your spray tan. If you shave your legs after spray on tan, you will take off some of your tan during the process.

We always recommend you shower, shave & exfoliate before your spray tan. 

Don’t wear any deodorant or makeup after your shower or before your spray tan. Many deodorants will turn the armpits green & some moisturizers and makeup products can actually act as a barrier, not allowing your skin to absorb the spray tan evenly.

It is important to use either an exfoliating glove or an exfoliating product. Do not use products that contain any oils, otherwise the oily barrier can stop the spray tanning solution getting through.

We recommend that you avoid using ALL TYPES OF BAR SOAP and products like Dove, Oil of Olay and certain face washes like Cetaphil, Clean & Clear. Avoid using anything that is designed to dry out your skin for acne or act as oil control.

It is always best to use a mild, gentle cleanser that is water based or a specific body wash designed for sunless tanning.

It is recommended to wear loose clothing  after your spray session.

 The tan needs to “set”, and the process will take about an 4-8 hours. It is best to bring clothes and shoes as loose as possible to wear after your spray tanning session, to make sure nothing rubs off.

The minimum time allowed before your shower should be 4 to 6 hours. It is recommended that you wait at least 6 to 8 hours for better development, but do not let set for longer than 8 hours.

If you are using the rapid development solution, do not let set for longer than 3 hours. 

No. The advanced technology currently used in sunless tanning solutions is designed to ensure a natural, bronze tan. The salon staffer can help you select the proper level of tanning solution to best match your skin tone.

To give the DHA enough time to fully set, it is recommended to wait a minimum of 4 hours after a sunless spray tanning session or 8 hours for optimal results. Showering sooner may diminish the intensity of the tan. If you tan using an Instant Cosmetic Bronzer, the Instant Cosmetic Color will wash off in the shower, but the color produced by the DHA will remain.

Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the Sunless Spray Tanning results, cause possible streaking and will diminish the length of your tan. However, normal activities such as bathing, showering or physical activities will not affect the quality of the tan.

No, the sunless spray tanning solution which includes a cosmetic bronzer is water soluble and will be removed after the next wash in cold water. However, in some instances, the DHA in the tanning solution may permanently stain undergarments worn during the spray session.

Yes, all VersaSpa at-home products are created to enhance and extend Professional Sunless Spray Tanning results. Over the counter products are not formulated for Sunless Tanning. They may block the tan’s application, impede the development process, and create uneven post-tan fading. The FDA has approved DHA for external application to the skin. For misting applications, the FDA recommends protective measures to prevent eye contact, inhalation or ingestion. To ensure complete protection, the FDA suggests wearing protective eyewear, nose filters, ear plugs, lip balm, and undergarments.

The FDA advises that users avoid inhaling or ingesting DHA or letting the spray get into the eyes. When using DHA- containing products as an all-over spray or mist, it may be difficult to avoid exposure in a manner for which DHA is not approved, including the area of the eyes, lips, or mucous membrane, or internally.
